Who are we?
We’re the Scholes Family and in 2017 we welcomed our second little bundle of joy into our lives and added a further layer of complexity when travelling abroad! Our two little girls are now aged 3 and 6 and our travelling experiences with them both, has provoked us to create this blog, to help other families continue their love for travelling, once they have started a family.
Where it began
Becky and I have a shared obsession with travel, something that started ironically on holiday 17 years ago, when our own relationship begun. As the years have passed, the one constant in that time has been travel. We’ve travelled to almost 70 countries together, but on the birth of our first daughter, we were both concerned that the days of jetting off abroad would be numbered.
Traveling as a family
We’ve certainly had to adapt our time away and whilst the quiet, romantic evening meals have been one of many casualties, they’ve simply been replaced with equally enjoyable experiences. We’ve learnt that these new experiences generally happen slightly earlier in the day and are mixed with the odd tantrum or two, from both parents and children!
The last 6 years have been a blast and we’ve been able to show our children so much of the world already and fully intend to continue exploring every corner of this planet, until they get bored and decide a trip to Magaluf with their mates is more appealing; at which point it’s back to those quiet romantic evening meals again.
About the blog
This blog will provide our readers with various insights into the many places we go to and hopefully some inspiration when you’re planning your next getaway.
It will offer advice on an array of different travelling themes and will evidence that travelling with children can be mutually rewarding, even when your child screams so loud that little Swedish children hold their ears and tell their mummies that their ears hurt; it’s at least a funny story to tell – so enjoy!
