Eating around the World at EPCOT Food and Wine Festival, Florida
When we booked our trip to DisneyWorld in October 2024, I was really pleased to discover that it coincided with the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival. Over the years, I’d watched many blogs about this festival and had seen people having lots of fun exploring the Pavilions and pop-up food stalls. Thanks for coming to read ‘Eating around the World at EPCOT Food and Wine Festival, Florida.’
As Vegetarians it also gave us the chance to try some bite size veggie foods from different countries (and secretly I was hoping it might get the children to try some new things too!)
Obviously, the Food and Wine Festival is just a part of a visit to EPCOT, and there’s LOADS to see regardless. But I’ll focus on that in a different blog post as it’s worthy of its own article.
EPCOT Food and Wine Festival runs each year from approximately the end of August to the third week of November, so it lasts a long time. The festival is made up of loads and loads of stalls and eateries from different Countries with a little menu of bite size eats and drinks. You can pick up a booklet detailing everything at the entrance and this really helped us locate the places we could eat (this was particularly important as a vegetarian as not all places had vegetarian options – which seems crazy but it is what it is).
As you can see from the photo below, the Pavilions at EPCOT are located around a lake and this is where most of the food options were. So we picked a route and slowly walked around sampling at wherever took our fancy. Bear in mind the price seems cheap as a one off but it can tot up (especially if you’re having alcoholic drinks as well – which we weren’t). Food was generally between $6 and $10 a portion.
We started with something we considered would be a surefire hit with the girls with Macatizers at the Communicore Hall. We went for Traditional Macaroni and Cheese with herbed Panko and it was delicious.
Then, over the course of the next few hours we had:
INDIA
Potato and Pea Samosa with Coriander Lime Cream – more popular with our spice-loving Dad and eldest, but they were really nice.
Mango Lassi – the most gorgeous thick refreshing (it was a HOT day) drink which was perfect after the heat of the Samosas.
REFRESHMENT OUTPOST
Impossible Spicy Sausage with Piri Piri Peppers and Onions, with Piri Piri Aioli. Only Dave had this as it was too spicy for the rest of us!
ITALY
Vanilla Cheesecake with whipped cream and fresh strawberry sauce. Small but perfectly formed, I think I liked this the most out of all of us – it was expensive for the portion you get.
BRAZIL
Pao De Queijo (Brazillian Cheese Bread). This was a firm favourite for us all and was utterly delicious.
CANADA
Poutine (Cheese chips and gravy). No words needed, Poutine is always a good idea.
On our second day at EPCOT we popped back to try (among some repeats of the above), Impossible Moussaka and Griddled Cheese with Pastacios and Honey (from Greece). Both these were delicious but more popular with the adults than the kids! We also had a Pineapple Dole Whip which is a bit of a Disney icon, you HAVE to try one.
We also had a few things that didn’t feature on the Food and Wine List of foods, so possibly they are there year round, including some delicious foods from the Morocco Pavilion and a chocolate dessert near Communicore Hall.
It was a REALLY fun way to have lunch and peppered with some rides and attractions made for a really fun day.
TOP TIPS:
- Pick up a Guide at the entrance, it makes it a lot easier.
- Use the MyDisneyExperience app to plan your day. Throughout our visit I genuinely don’t know what I’d have done without it.
- Beware that the World ShowCase (the part of EPCOT where the Pavilions are) is really very exposed – so in the rain there’s nowhere to hide and in the heat it is HOT. Take ponchos and umbrellas if rain is forecast, and plan inside activities and hop into Pavilions every so often to enjoy the air conditioning. And as always, drink lots of water.
