During the first week of June 2022 there is going to be a four-day bank holiday weekend in order to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Queen Elizabeth II is the first British Monarch to celebrate 70 years of service on the throne as a a result there is going to be loads of celebrations during this extended bank holiday.

From hosting a street party, to watching live music, enjoying a jubilee picnic or attending a public event in one of the many gorgeous villages and towns of Surrey, there is something for everyone to celebrate this momentous occasion. The joy of these big occasions is in the public events hosted all over the Country. I’ve picked out some highlights below of some of the great things going on.

Picnic in the Castle Grounds, Guildford

Guildford Castle Grounds, Castle Street, Guildford, Surrey, GU1 3UW

Saturday 4th June, 12-4pm

• Pack a picnic and enjoy music and entertainment with Guildford Fringe Festival from the Bandstand.
• Tea, Coffee and Cakes will be available from Castle Green Bowls Club and you can also have a go at bowls on the green.
• The Keep Pub will provide the Pimm’s Tent.
• Visit the stands and join in the activities.
• Well behaved dogs allowed on leads.

Please be aware that Picnic areas near the bandstand will be limited but there are other places to sit in the Castle area.

Cobham Jubilee Day – Saturday 4th June, 11am to 4pm

The Cobham Jubilee Day will be on the Leg O’Mutton field.

There will be lots to see and do:-

• Free Entertainment
• Lots of Stalls to visit including a Pimm’s Stall
• Bring your own picnic or enjoy delicious food to buy on the day
• Knight Frank/Cobham Heritage Duck Race at 4pm

Children will enjoy Juggling Jake, Punch and Judy and the Balloon Modeller. Walton Firs Activity Centre will be bringing a climbing frame. There will be plenty of music, dancing and much, much more.

The Big Jubilee Lunch Garden Party, Claremont Gardens, Esher

Portsmouth Road, Esher, Surrey, KT10 9JG

Sunday 5th June – 10am to 3pm

• Pick up some yummy treats from ‘The Gardener’s Bothy Cafe’ or bring a picnic and enjoy a fun day out!

• The 300 year grass amphitheatre will be open and there’ll be games available for families to play together.

• The Claremont Crown Quest will also be running from 10am – 3pm, £3 per quest including archery, normal admission applies.

Jubilee Joust – Hampton Court Palace

Experience the sport of kings as knights from around the country joust to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Pick your favourite knight and cheer them on as they compete for the coveted Jubilee Cup. Who will be the knight to win the fight? Who will joust the hardest? Who will fall? Who will come out on top? The tournament will see knights facing off over an unprecedented five days for the right to be hailed champion.

Polesden Lacey 1950s Themed Platinum Jubilee Celebration, Dorking

Polesden Lacey, Great Bookham, DORKING, Surrey, RH5 6BD

Thursday 2nd June 2022 – Sunday 5th June 2022

The National Trust’s Polesden Lacey is planning a 1950s themed Jubilee celebration that will run for the whole of the bank holiday weekend. With live music on the historic terrace from 1pm-3pm, the south lawn is the perfect place to sit with friends and family with a picnic and enjoy the stunning views across the valley.

Children can take part in the Jubilee treasure hunt or enjoy a ride on the miniature train that will be there on Friday 3 June.
