The Innsbruck Card – a great way to explore the city
We didn’t know much about the Innsbruck Card before we got to Innsbruck. But when we started researching what to do in the City lots of people seemed to recommend it so we looked into it further.
What’s the deal?
You get a card for either 24, 48 or 72 hours and it allows you entry into a number of sights and attractions in the City. Usually we find these sorts of cards aren’t worthwhile (they don’t include the big attractions for example) but in Innsbruck it was a fantastic deal.
The prices for adults are 24 hours – 43 euros, 48 hours – 50 euros, 72 hours – 59 euros.
The price for children (under 6 is free) are 24 hours – 21.50 euros, 48 hours – 25 euros, 72 hours – 29.50 euros.
We opted for the 48 hour card and as our girls are both under 6 it was exceptionally good value. Even at 100 euros in total we more than made our money back. The full list of what’s included can be found on the Innsbruck Card website but we took advantage of the following during our stay (I’ve linked the ones I’d recommend):
Alpen Zoo
Audioversum Science Center
Innsbruck Nordkettenbahnen (cable car)
Sightseer Innsbruck – Hop on Hop off bus
We wanted to get the shuttle out to the Swarovski Crystal World but we run out of time! We also used public transport which is included in the card.
The Innsbruck Nordkettenbahnen alone would have been 36 euros each for Dave and I (and that is considered a must do in Innsbruck – see our post here). The sightseer bus was 17 euros each so with those two tickets alone we have already made our money back. As I said it was great value.
It allowed us to give a lot of things a try. Even if they weren’t a huge success it didn’t matter, as we could just leave and go elsewhere. Of the things we visited I would say the Audioversum Science Center was a bit too old for our children so we left quickly. And the Alpen Zoo was a bit of a let down as all the animals were inside and it was very hilly, not ideal with a buggy. Read more about our trip to Innsbruck here.
We were really impressed with Innsbruck and this card really helped us make the most of it. Thumbs up to the Innsbruck Card!
