The Ultimate packing list for DisneyWorld Orlando
Here’s a packing list for your Disney World trip to make sure you’re prepared for everything! Thanks for coming to read The Ultimate packing list for Disneyworld, Orlando.
1. Essentials
- Park Tickets: Ensure you have your physical tickets or digital passes loaded on your phone. We had them all linked to our DisneyWorld app and it worked brilliantly.
- ID/Wallet: Driver’s license, credit cards, and any other essential IDs.
- Phone & Charger: Essential for photos, navigating the park, and using the My Disney Experience app.
- Portable Charger: Keep your phone charged throughout the day. This was essential for us as we found using the app so much (for lightening lanes, maps and photos) really drained the battery.
- Disney MagicBand (if applicable): For park entry, purchases, and FastPass+ access.
- Sunscreen: Florida sun can be intense, so bring a high SPF. We always put some on before we left in the morning but took some into the park too.
- Hat/Cap: To protect your face from the sun.
- Sunglasses: A must for sunny days.
2. Clothing
- Comfortable Shoes: You’ll be walking a lot, so opt for trainers or cushioned sandals. I had these ones from Freemans which were FANTASTIC and the others wore trainers – they said these were by far the most comfortable shoe for so much walking.
- Rain Gear: Florida weather is unpredictable, so pack a poncho or rain jacket. We took these with us most days as we had a fair bit of rain!
- Extra Clothes: For any spills, rain, or if you want a fresh change after a long day in the park.
- Light Jacket/jumper: Evening temperatures can drop a bit. We didn’t need these on our trip but I know that during the cooler months over winter these can be an essential.
- Swimwear: If you’re planning to swim at the hotel pool or water park. Our girls swam every day so we took two pairs each.
3. Snacks & Hydration
- Reusable Water Bottle: Stay hydrated throughout the day (you can refill it at water fountains). These were a life saver, it’s so important to drink lots of water in the heat. We did buy the occasional drink in the park but it saved so much money by taking in our own.
- Snacks: We took crisps, sweets and cereal bars in with us – don’t take anything that will melt!
4. For the Park
- Autograph Book & Pen: If you’re hoping to get characters’ autographs. The girls really loved getting autographs and we loved the books we got which were just like these ones.
- Camera: For those special moments if you want something beyond your phone camera.
- Disney Costumes (Optional): If you’re visiting with kids and they want to dress up as their favourite characters. Adults aren’t allowed to dress up.
- Backpack/Bag: To carry everything comfortably, but be mindful of size restrictions. Also be mindful of not taking too much into the parks as you’ll have to carry it all day! We found the amount we took in lessened with every day.
- Cooling Towels: These clever microfibre towels cool you down significantly when wet. Soak then under a tap, squeeze, and put over your shoulders/around your neck. These are also excellent for wiping yourself down after a wet ride or if you get hot and sweaty.
- Ziplock Bags: For any wet clothes or to protect electronics from water rides. We actually used the ziplock bags that our cooling towels came in.
- Hand Sanitizer/Wipes: Keep clean between snacks, rides, and shows.
5. For the Hotel
- Suncream & After-sun Lotion: It gets HOT in Florida, so pack plenty of suncream. And after a long day in the sun, you’ll want to soothe your skin.
- Medication: Don’t forget anything you may need like prescriptions, allergy medicine, or over-the-counter stuff (Calpol and paracetamol are essentials when we travel). Plasters are also useful. But remember, you’re never far from a convenience store or Walmart in Florida!
- Pyjamas: For comfy nights at your accommodation – bear in mind you might have the air conditioning on!
6. Miscellaneous
- Travel Size Toiletries: Toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, etc. I do actually take full-size ones as I know we’ll use alot of it but you know what works for your family.
- Ear Plugs/Headphones: For breaks from the noise or to relax while waiting in line. These are also handy for the flight – the ones they hand out on planes are never that comfy.
- Stroller/buggy (if you have young kids): You can also rent strollers at the parks, but bringing your own may be more convenient (and comfier for the children).
- Gifts/Souvenirs: Leave room for any magical items you pick up during your trip! We actually left one of our suitcases half full on the trip out which worked really well as we did get quite alot to take back home with us.
- Anti Chaffing cream/underwear: Even Dave, who is like a bean pole, suffered with chaffing on his thighs due to the heat, wet clothes from the rides and sheer level of walking you do in the park. I had picked up some anti-chaffing balm before we went and it was a game changer.
With these packed, you should be all set for a fun and stress-free Disney World adventure! Can you think of anything I should add? Thanks for reading The Ultimate packing list for Disneyworld, Orlando.
