Two days in EPCOT Disney World, Florida
We visited Disney World Florida for 2 weeks in October 2024. I had heard time and again about EPCOT being peoples favourite park out of the Disney Parks and I was keen to explore it for myself! Thank you for coming to read Two Days in EPCOT Disney World, Florida.
EPCOT stands for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow and is a celebration of human innovation that is split into 3 distinct areas World Celebration, World Discovery and World Nature.
I felt like our visit was timed really well as, bar Test Track, all the work over the past few years was finished and it was looking amazing.
The first day that we visited it was pouring with rain (this was a trend for our first few days in Florida!) and as with Magic Kingdom, it did a good job of keeping the crowds away, to an extent, and keep the temperature on the manageable side.
Lightening Lanes
As with Magic Kingdom we decided to purchase Lightening Lanes and whilst it’s not as necessary as at some of the other parks (Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios in my opinion) we did benefit from it. We paid around $76 for 4 Multi Pass Lightening Lanes which is really reasonable I felt. On our second visit I got us a Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind Single Pass for $64 which is worth every penny.
Virtual Queue for Guardians of the Galaxy….
On the subject of Guardians of the Galaxy I actually missed the first chance of the day to get a virtual queue (7am) because we were at Walmart doing a Hurricane preperation shop (we were in Florida for Hurricane Milton so needed to stock up on supplies). This was a bit of a pain as it meant by the time the next Virtual Queue slot opened at 1pm, we were put in a queue that was 5hrs long and we weren’t due to get into the physical ride queue until 5.30pm. However it was absolutely worth it as it turned out to be our favourite ride of the holiday. However, I really recommend getting your thumb ready for 7am to get a virtual queue as early as possible for it.
What did we ride at EPCOT on our first day
Journey into Imagination With Figment – 5 minute wait
The Seas with Nemo and Friends – Lightening Lane
Spaceship Earth – 5 minute wait
Living with the Land – Lightening Lane
Soarin Around the World – Lightening Lane
Frozen Ever After – 60 minute wait
It’s worth bearing in mind we were also Eating around the World at the Food and Wine Festival, so the rides were peppered in with the eating! Read more about our experience of that brilliant festival here.
What else did we do at EPCOT on our first day?
EPCOT has lots to offer as well as food and rides. On our first day there we enjoyed:
Celebration Encanto – A lovely Encanto performance, ideal to pair with a little snack stop!
Voices of Liberty – Don’t miss this wonderful acapela performance celebtrating America’s spirit and beauty.
Beauty and the Beast Sing Along
Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana – a self guided walk through water play of all types, brilliant in the heat and the girls loved it.
We also hopped on the Skyliner to Pop Century as I wanted to have a go on it, and I also quite wanted to see Pop Century! The International Gateway Skyliner station is located between the UK and French Pavilion.
Day 2 at EPCOT
When we first rode on Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind, we KNEW we needed to ride it again….so I got onto the My Disney Experience App and booked us a Single Lightening Lane for it for later in the holiday.
So on the last day of the holiday we did a mixed day starting at Hollywood Studios, hoping over to EPCOT for some more eating around the World and a couple of rides and then back to Hollywood Studios for Fantasmic in the evening. It worked perfectly and it was so easy to do as EPCOT and Hollywood Studios are linked via the skyliner.
We arrived at Epcot mid-afternoon and tried to cover some bits we’d not seen on our first visit. I do think, where you can, going to the parks for a second visit is always a good idea as you’ll inevitably missed something (either knowingly or unknowingly!) on your first visit. We had missed the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros in the Mexico Pavillion on our first visit and it was a little gem (its like a Mexican version of Its a Small World) and on a very hot day it was a bit of air conditioned bliss.
After eating a bit more food around the World, we headed to Guardians of the Galaxy for our Single Lightening Lane (which cost around $18 each, so $72 for the 4 of us) and it was really nice this time to skip the queue having queued for so long with the virtual queue. With the virtual queue you go on the app at 7am or 1pm and are then allocated a group time as to when you can physically start queueing. So once your group is called you go and join the queue – which can then be well over an hour long.
As before we LOVED it. After this we headed back to Hollywood Studios for Fantasmic at 8pm.
EPCOT is an AMAZING park, and we are looking forward to going back again and seeing it when other festivals are on.
