AirBnb Review – Faroe Islands
We recently visited the Faroe Islands for a 3 night stay. We booked a beautiful Airbnb and were really excited to stay there as the photos looked amazing. I make it a rule that I don’t blog a review of Airbnb’s unless they really are OUTSTANDING, sometimes that is because of their location, sometimes their style, or somethings a combination of things.
About the Airbnb
This Airbnb was located 8 minutes from the Airport at Vagar, in the Faroe Islands. In some areas of the World this would be a negative, but there are hardly any flights landing in the Faroe Islands each day and in fact, we never saw or heard one. What it did mean was that we got off the plane, got our hire car and were in the Airbnb really quickly.
The house itself is one of 4 identical buildings, all built by the owner in 2018. The one we had was the only one we found on Airbnb, so it’s possible the others were rented elsewhere. Whilst we were there we were only aware of one other house being occupied. We felt that ours was one of the best of the 4 as it was at the front so had uninterrupted views of the water.
Inside the Airbnb
You step straight into the living, dining, kitchen area of the Airbnb from the outside. The dining table seats 4 and has floor to ceiling windows overlooking Drangarnar, Tindholm and Mykines. The kitchen area is small but really well equipped and spotlessly clean. The living area has a sofa that can seat 3 and 2 single armchairs with a coffee table. Off of this area is the bathroom which has the laundry facilities, wet room (with shower) and toilet.
A wooden staircase leads to the top floor where there is a twin bedroom (with no door) and a twin bedroom (with a door). It’s worth bearing in mind that one of the bedrooms doesn’t have a door so if anyone is downstairs the people in that open top bedroom can hear you.
We also found the whole top floor and stair case creaky (to be expected in a wooden home) so if someone got up early in the morning it could be a bit tricky to not wake others. We put the children in the bedroom with the door so that we didn’t disturb them in the evenings.
The Airbnb was small but absolutely perfect for 3 nights with a young family.
Outside the Airbnb
There are resident ducks that came to our door regularly, so we picked up bread from the supermarket to feed them. The girls absolutely loved it. The outside of the Airbnb was unlike anything we’ve seen and the view was outstanding. In fact tourists driving along the road would stop to take photos of the Airbnb and the view.
