Kalkan, Turkey with a baby

Thank you for coming to read our blog on a week in Kalkan, Turkey with a baby.

Why Kalkan?

When our daughter was 7 months old we took a trip to Kalkan on the South West Coast of Turkey. We found a beautiful Villa nestled on the hillside in the middle of the Town. The Villa had plenty of room for the 3 of us, and 3 other members of our family to stay comfortably.

It didn’t take us much research to see that Kalkan had a lot to offer and looked absolutely beautiful. It did not disappoint!

Who did we book with?

We booked the villa through the Turquoise Collection – a company that specialises in villa holidays to Kalkan and overall we had a good experience with them (they forgot to put a cot in the villa but did come round promptly when we arrived at midnight to provide one!). We paid £1745 for the villa for a week.

What we did during our week

On our first day we arranged, via the Turquoise Collection for a chef to come and cook us dinner. He was there most of the day and produced an absolutely incredible feast for us to enjoy. It was well worth the money.

Our days were mostly spent around the pool or down in the town at one of the many restaurants lining the waters edge. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a selection of great bars and restaurants – we went to many of them and they never failed to impress. The waiters all loved children and were so kind to our daughter.

Our daughter was 7 months old and only just crawling so it was easy to keep her in one place. We packed loads of toys and a playmat and penned her in using the outside seating. It was worth the effort of taking the toys as they kept her happy and occupied.

All the restaurants were child friendly and had high chairs

It was exceptionally hot (as you’d expect from Turkey in June) but the villa had plenty of shade and on a particularly hot day we escaped up into the mountains to a wonderful restaurant at a trout farm. Whilst waiting for the food we explored and relaxed in a hammock.

We took a float for the baby, she really enjoyed bobbing about in it in the pool and it saved our arms from carrying her constantly! With the all in one sun suit and hat she was also very protected from the sun.

Final thoughts?

I hope you enjoyed reading about our visit to Kalkan, Turkey with a baby.

Kalkan was BEAUTIFUL. We had such a great week and really enjoyed being in the centre of a town (quite often we stay in Villas that are more remote). Because of its location we felt we really got to know the town and enjoyed the many restaurants on offer.
