Where is Green Hill Farm Holiday Village?

Green Hill Farm Holiday Village is on the very edge of the New Forest National Park, which is near the south coast of England in the United Kingdom. It is actually in Wiltshire, but is very close to the border with Hampshire. Its address is:

What accommodation is there to choose from?

One of the best things about Green Hill Farm Holiday Village is that there is something for everyone accommodation wise. If Camping or touring is your thing, there’s sprawling meadows to pitch your tent with clean, well located facilities nearby. They offer spacious grass electric hook-ups and grass non-electric pitches with pitch-side parking. They also have some brilliant look camping pods which would be a nice in-between option between camping and being in a holiday home.

Another option is Glamping. The luxury safari tents look amazing and can sleep a whole family and have wood burners, TVs, a kitchen and even a hot tub. They’re located in a really peaceful part of the park facing the fishing lake.

Where did we stay and what did we think?

We stayed in one of the luxury holiday homes for our visit and it was brilliant. We have stayed in lodges before and I’ve always been impressed with the clever use of space and stylish designs but this one at Green Hill Park really blew me away. It was spotlessly clean (huge thumbs up to the cleaning team who you could see working hard the whole time we were there to keep the standards high) and had everything we could need for a family holiday.

Inside our lodge

Ours was a two bedroom lodge which could sleep 4 in bedrooms but 6 if you used the sofa bed in the living room area. There was a fully equipped kitchen with dining table for 4 and a cosy living room with large corner sofa and widescreen tv. This led out onto the terrace which has table and chairs. From here we could safely watch the girls playing on their bikes or over at the children’s play area.

There is an ensuite double bedroom in the lodge

There was a double bedroom with ensuite toilet and lots of storage space. The second bedroom had twin beds and again plenty of storage. Then there was a family bathroom with shower. Each lodge has space for 1 car to park next to it.

I felt like the lodges were in an excellent location within the park and even though they were in the centre of the action it was still quiet within the lodges.

The playground

There is free Wifi which was reliable and strong for the whole time we were there.

Upon arrival we had colouring sheets left for the girls (which they did immediately!) and beer, prosecco and New Forest shortbread for the adults. Its always the small touches that make places extra special and Green Hill Farm had lots of special extras. I also really liked the New Forest hand wash and moisturiser in the bathrooms!

There was also a welcome pack promoting the Lovat Parks Big 5 initiative where Lovat Parks have collaborated with Megan McCubbin to show that you don’t need to travel far to see an incredible abundance of wildlife. Often it is right here on our doorstep!

What activities can you do at Green Hill Farm Holiday Village?

  • Communal fire pit – As I mentioned above, we toasted marshmallows at the communal fire pit twice during our stay (marshmallows on sticks purchased at Ember Pizzeria) and the girls really really enjoyed it.

  • Table tennis
  • Bike hire – We did mountain bike hire for our first day and cycled out into the New Forest. Dave, me and our 7 year old had a bike and the 4 year old was in a tagalong (pulled by Dave!) and we explored the beauty of the New Forest National Park for a few hours. We cycled 7 miles which we thought was great for the 7 year old, especially as we navigated some pretty big hills!
  • Children’s play area – The large children’s play area had swings and frames suitable for all ages and is situated next to the Ember Pizzeria restaurant. It was also just over from our lodge so easy to pop to (numerous times a day!)
  • Outdoor gymnasium
  • Football pitch
  • Segways (seasonal)
  • Ranger activities program (seasonal) – There was a great range of activities available while we were at Green Hill Farm holiday Park. My daughters took part in the Paper Rocket Launching which involved them first designing a rocket on paper (they both loved the creativity of this) and then going outside to launch a rocket high in the sky – and they really do go high! There was also other fun activities including Birdhouse building and orienteering.

  • Archery (seasonal)
  • Target shooting (seasonal)
  • Laser tag (seasonal)
  • Trampolines (seasonal) – My 7 year old went on the bungee trampoline and really enjoyed it. She was given plenty of time to bounce and the instructor gave her some ideas of things she could try whilst bouncing.
  • Kids water splash pad (seasonal hours) – Hands down the favourite activity of the holiday was the splash pad. Open 11-5pm daily we visited it most days. It was safe, non slip and completely enclosed with seats around the edge for parents. It is located right next to the children’s playground.

What about food?

We ate at the lovely Ember Cafe Bar twice during our stay and the food was delicious. It overlooks the park so the children happily played while we waited for food. We enjoyed Pizza, pasta and vegan burgers. You can also purchase huge marshmallows on sticks to toast at the fire pit during the evenings – this was one of the girls favourite activities to do during our holiday.

If you need to get a few extras then the on site park shop is perfect for this. It sells all the essentials like toilet roll, fresh bread and shampoo plus lots of other local produce. And of course it also sells some not so essential items, like cookies and sweets!

If you need to do a bigger shop there is a NISA 4 minutes drive away or a large Morrisons 15 minutes away.

There is also a great choice of pubs in and around the New Forest, you’re truly spoilt for choice. We had lunch at the Oak Inn in Lyndhurst which was delicious.

What other facilities are there on site?

Green Hill Farm Holiday Village has its own direct access to the New Forest through a gate in the park, from here you are immediately immersed in the wonderful views and wildlife that the New Forest has to offer.

There is also a lovely woodland walk around the edges of the Holiday Village, we did this a couple of times during our stay.

What can we do nearby?

Green Hill Farm Holiday Park is a great base for exploring the New Forest and there’s lots to do in the area.

Paultons Park, home to Peppa Pig World is only 10 minutes drive away and is a fantastic day out for all the family. Check out our review of Peppa Pig World, here.

The National Motor Museum, Beaulieu is about 25 minutes away and was a brilliant day out in a gorgeous part of the New Forest.

Longdown Activity Farm was a big hit with the children, it’s very hands on and with loads to do this is a fantastic way to spend the day.

We also spent some time just exploring the beautiful countryside of the New Forest. Even though we were there during the school holidays the roads weren’t busy and we found some of the most beautiful areas within easy reach. We visit Lymington on the south coast, as well as Lyndhurst and Brockenhurst.

Lots of lovely memories made!

Anything else?

Now that we have stayed at this brilliant Park in the New Forest we’d love to try out some other Lovat Holiday Villages. They have locations in Suffolk, Norfolk, Kent and Cornwall. Check them out here. Green Hill Farm Holiday Village is the perfect family escape in the beautiful New Forest and we had a wonderful visit.
