Legoland Billund with Kids – A Review

Ad. We were gifted tickets to Legoland Billund in return for our review. All opinions are our own.

Introduction

We are huge fans of Legoland in Windsor as we live locally and have been many many times. So I have always wanted to take the girls to Legoland Billund, the original home of Lego! I wanted to make sure we visited before my oldest got too grown up for the rides and I think we timed it perfectly at ages 9 and 6.

We love to visit Theme Parks all over the World and had heard really positive things about Legoland Billund so we were excited to visit as part of our Denmark road trip in Summer 2024.

The rides at Legoland Billund

The rides at Legoland Billund are varied – there are loads for the very tiniest visitors (including a Peppa Pig area!), plenty of family-friendly rides for all of us to enjoy, and a brilliant selection of faster rides for the brave among us. There was only ride in the whole park that is over 130cm which means it was brilliant for all the family. My 6-year-old was thrilled that she could go on all but one ride.

Unlike Legoland Windsor there are a few more rollercoasters in Legoland Billund, which kept our 9 year old happy. These include Flying Eagle, Polar X-Plorer, X-Treme Racers and The Dragon (a favourite of ours from Windsor!) We really enjoyed the fact that on the day we visited we hardly had to queue for anything, the longest wait being 30 minutes.

Some of the most imaginative and clever rides at Legoland Billund are Ninjango (a fantastic 3D ride where you shoot lasers with your hands!), Emmet’s Flying Adventure – Masters of Flight (a brilliant virtual reality ride where you experience the flying adventure like you are there) and the fantastic LegoTop which gives you views over the whole park (always excellent for getting your bearings).

Other rides that we all really enjoyed include the Monorail which is really peaceful and a nice way to see Miniland and other parts of the park from above. Pirate Boats was a fun boat ride with lots of lego figures to look at while relaxing on a boat and my 9 year old loved Apocalypseburg Sky Battle which is for people over 130cm, and involves flying your own plane, deciding quite how upside down you want to go!

Something else that we thought was brilliant was that at many of the rides there was a section to play Lego for the children. This really helped any queues go really fast for them!

What else to do at Legoland Billund

We really enjoyed the Castle Show which we watched at 1pm while eating our picnic. It runs throughout the day but we always like to take in a show over lunch. Other shows include the 4D Cinema, and there are numerous meet and greets around the park. My youngest love seeing some of the lego characters and getting photos with them.

Miniland is also absolutely beautiful and really nice to walk around (perhaps with an ice cream from the nearby ice cream shop!) Using over 20 million Lego bricks here you’ll find the world in miniature and the detail has to be seen to be believed.

Food and Drink at Legoland Billund

As mentioned before we took a picnic in with us to Legoland Billund. There are numerous places to sit and eat. However, if you wanted to buy food there, then there are loads of options for you. There’s a buffet restaurant, a couple of burger restaurants and cafes and coffee shops. There’s also a sweet shop and slushie shop which my girls were thrilled about!

What else do I need to consider?

Parking

Parking at Legoland Billund is a breeze, located directly in front of the entrance. We got there for opening and easily got a spot near the front of the car park. It costs 70DKK (just under £10) and you can purchase this from the car parking machines at the car park.

Location

Legoland Billund is right next to Lalandia (which is a resort much like Center Parcs), so if you are staying there it is within walking distance. We stayed around 20 minutes away in an Airbnb which was also very easy.

Prices

Prices vary (check the website here) but expect to pay around 359DKK (£40) per person if booking online in advance.

Conclusion

We had an absolutely brilliant day at Legoland Billund and I’d highly recommend it to anyone. It was clean, beautifully landscaped and so full of things to do. I’d love to go back again! Thank you for reading Legoland Billund with Kids – A Review.
